Select Sheepware mobile app to launch on both Google and Apple app stores.
The Select Sheepware mobile app will be launched in early November and will be available on both app stores – for android and iPhone. Search for Select Sheepware
The Select Sheepware app links directly to Select Sheepware for windows.  The synchronisation between the two is via WIFI.  If Select Sheepware for windows is on a computer which is connected to the same WIFI as the mobile device, then the app on the device and Select Sheepware on computer will communicate. It is a prerequisite for the system that Select Sheepware is installed on a windows computer as the computer database is the master database.

The opening form of the page allows the user to get to open the appropriate task with one tap. There’s no complex menu system. It’s very straightforward. Looking up the details for an animal is done by either entering part of the animal’s tag number (farm tag, official tag or EID) in the box at the top, or by scanning in an EID from a connected EID reader.

The medicine recording section of the app is particularly comprehensive.  New medicines can be added, which are then immediately available for use.  Medicine purchases can be recorded and the medicines are immediately available for use.  General health treatments, for example worming, are easily entered. All the recorded events sync back to Select Sheepware via WIFI and are available for quality assurance inspections and analysis of health issues.

It is particularly easy to scroll through recorded animal data. The record card is a fully scrollable card. Each section is also scrollable, for example the medicine section.

While EID readers are fast and accurate for many tasks, such as pregnancy scanning, weighing, reading animals into groups at tupping etc, there are times when data needs to be recorded and the user doesn’t have an EID reader immediately at hand, especially if the reader is the stick type. This is where the app is most useful.  Users can look up animal records quickly, record events for single or multiple animals, especially medicine treatments.
George from TGM says that the app is an additional tool for recording which should be used alongside an EID reader.  The phone app is used when instant lookup of  information is required or instant recording is required when no reader is available, while an EID reader is used for high speed, accurate recording for events where a robust device is more suitable.

The cost per device on the app stores is £1.99 + VAT

The app subscription cost to enable sync with Select Sheepware on PC, is £100 + VAT per year. The users must have an active supported Select Sheepware program running on their windows PC. The app will only sync to the matching version of Select Sheepware on computer, so users should select to download the Select Sheepware update when a new version is available.
